I thought it would be fun to revive this thread since I got to use my new hub nut socket today.

Here is a photo lining up my progression in hub nut tools.

(right)
Stamped tool that does not accept and ratchet. I hate this tool.

(middle)
SK 2-1/16" x 1" drive impact socket, 1"-3/4" adapted and 3/4" -1/2" adapter. I had to turn down the diameter of this socket becasue it was just a hair too big to fit inside the hub. I bought this after the stamped hub nut tool went missing, only later to reappear after I bought this one.

The Sealey brand 52mm socket with 1/2" drive available from the link at the top. This tool is tough, compact and made for the job AND you can finally get over your hub nut socket envy too.

I ordered my socket the other day from justoffbase but I haven't heard from them yet. I think their site says that they will e-mail me to tell me what the US shipping.

A friend of mine has the stamped steel socket with a piece of steel plate welded on the back and a cheap 1/2" drive socket welded to the back of that. Poor man's tool but I used it to do my axle/diff/rotor install.

LOL....just this weekend I was rummaging around in the toolboxes in my garage and I came across the shitty stamped hub nut tool that I bought years ago for my old D1. I've never even tried the hub nuts on my D2....are they the same size?

I was at Northern Tool last night and in the Automotive section they have a nice selection of hub sockets. I looked for one a while back, but I was looking for one in the tool section with the other sockets. Go figure. We just made one.

JC Whitney claims to have one that will fit. Normally $15.33 now on sale for $12.99

Product number 27936G

1/2" drive six point socket. Pic doesn't really look like it would fit but at that price it would be worth a call.

Maybe I am missing something, but I couldn't find a 52mm or 2 1/16" socket. Are you sure you found the right socket?

I plugged in Defender 110 and that came up. When I called them to confirm I found out is was not the correct size. They need to correct their listing.

I found a 2 3/32" at my local NAPA. It works well enough, wasn't $35, and I can get a torque wrench on it. The corners of the nuts are already rounded off anyways.

LOL. Using a torque wrench helps you to use the precise amount of torque to round off a nut.
