Thoughts and opinions on this engine in 110s. Looking for things like how underpowered it is. How it performs on highway, offroad, around town. Ease of swapping in a regular 2.5 or other turbo diesel engine.

I would not mess with anything under a 200tdi in the 110. Those you mentioned may be fine beating around town and on the trail but you will not see anything north of 55-60 downhill with a tailwind on the open road. If your interested, I have an 84 coming in with a 200 tdi installed but its a 90.

skip the 2.5 na and turbo and go straight to the 200 Tdi. It will be a direct bolt in on the existing mounts and tranny. The 2.25's have a 1.66 transfercase to make up for the complete lack of power or torque. If you swap to a 200 go for the 1.4 tcase the 200 and 300tdi are 7 hp different and this primarily because the 200 doesn't run as much boost as the 300 in factory tune (it's adjustable and can be brought up to the same level).

My truck with 33's and fully loaded with gear coming back from Uwharrie (440 mile trip) averaged around 70 mph (set it while we were still on 2 lane rt109)- & hit a high of 84mph on I95 per the Garmin and got 24.7 mpg.

Have a 110 hcpu here with the 2.25 and it does 65 with a tailwind. It would be fine for around some small English village but not on any of the "M's". Where in the Uk are you ?

Cambridge 27 miles to work. I'm thinking that if I do get one it's gonna have to have a newer engine. No worries though buyrovers. I'm sure somebody will buy it off you.
