2 Door Rangie thread

Hey there,

So am trying to post in several boards for information to restore a 2 door I just bought...

I've done some searches and read through some stuff...mainly need parts stores, and some facts...like:

1. did they ever come with the canvas (Webasco) roof?
2. did they come with the M8027 winch or the capstan?
3. which are the ORIGINAL mirors for the 1983/4 (last years for 2 doors)?

Aiming to go to the OEM setting.

Cheers,
Nadim

I don't know if the mirrors on the hood are what you're looking for, but I'd like a source for them too because I smashed my mirror off on a tree and I'm sure it won't be the last time I hit a tree.

Nadim,

I am going to start parting out a 2 door range rover soon that still has a bunch of good parts on it.

all glass is good, dog guard, manual seats are like new, grill, headlight surrounds, bumper, hood, non sunroof roof, dash and all kinds of stuff.

sills and an inner front fender are rusted, brake line is busted and I do not have time to restore it.

walsnart, you are welcome to come by and see what if anything you might want, I am located in Fort Collins.

Hey Nadim,

good to see you go the natural route and add some more of Solihulls finest to your collection.

Well, the last Range Rover Two Doors rolled off the line in
...
...
January 1994.

1) Don't know what is a Webasco roof (Webasto?), but it very likely was never a factory option.
2) The Darien Gap Expedition vehicles had a Capstan winch, but the Warn 8027(?) was an option I saw in the early parts catalog. RTC8013.
3) Ok ok, let me grab the book: only the very early models until somewhat around 75/76 had the wing mirrors. These are worth their weight in gold nowadays. Then there were several sorts of door mirrors, and I would reckon the correct one for your year might be MRC5594 and MRC5595

Just gimme a call if you need to know something.

Discodino,

I am still in the process of restoring my 2 DR 75. I got the CD with the parts list and original numbers for most stuff.

I am away from my home computer, but Pm with what you need and I can get the original part numbers and in some cases a good supplier.

There a few things which I was able to sub and some parts I just cannot locate like the rear tracks for the sliding windows.

Good for you restoring the King of the Classics

Now from what i know the 2 doors never came from factory with either a canvas or a warn winch. The part warn winch was available only has an aftermarket part. LR never has a winch bumper ..

Now believe that an 88 2 door was called the Range Rover Olympic. Its a 2 door with a 3.9 and also a 2 door CSK in the 90's...

but for your period correct the mirrors were on the windows sill and not on the bonnet ;)

DiscoDino,

I replaced the side mirrors on my 81 2dr, with mirrors from an Isuzu trooper. Not stock, but look pretty good on the vehicle, and I can actually use them. The stock were pretty near useless. That said, if you want them and I can lay hands on them, PM me.

Dave,

PMed you.

I think I have a parts or repair manual that showed the cloth sunroof so it must have been an option at some point. I had one from a 72 that looked like it was installed aftermarket. I'm not sure if britax and webasto started as two separate companies but they are now the same.

I'm not sure if the door mirrors are the same for a 2 door as for a 4 door but I have 3 mirrors available from 84 4door cars.

Dave- could you post or pm more details about the car you are parting?

Like everyone else I could use a couple nice pairs of correct wing mirrors.
