been doing some searching but found nothing definitive so here goes. several weeks ago the radio(radio/cassette) starting acting up, couldn't change channels, no volume control and so on. then a dead battery after sitting for a few days. removed radio, new battery alls good, reinstall radio(wouldn't turn on or ask for code) bam, dead battery the next day. radio out still holding recharge on battery. radio failure common? also read that a weak key fob battery can cause similar problems by not being strong enough to turn off the immobilizer? changed that. any advice?

i drive a 2000 D2 too and the same symptoms happened to me. I've been living with a water leak when it rains that sometimes dripped on the center console. I figured maybe the 10 amp fuse behind the stereo was blown but it was fine. I popped in a used unit and music is back, so i flung the old one in the trash. last week, i had my alternator rebuilt so i had to disconnect the battery. radio is gone again! I'm gonna pull it out again and check the fuse. there is another fuse on that circuit. the fuse block is under the steering wheel, behind the knee panel. fuse 16, 15 amp. I didn't need the security code because it must be disabled. the code is stamped on the back of the stereo, a 4-digit code. if you can't find it, you'll have to call your local Land Rover parts department and give them the VIN, he'll give you the code. still scratching my head on mine.
