Some organism decided to tag one of my rear bumper lights.
So now its time to get a new/used one. The current one has the yellow/red split lens.
Brother-in law saw an 04 DII in the scrap yard with clear/red lens light assemblies.
Would the 04 light assembly be a direct swap replacement for my current light assembly?

Well, that would be interesting. I have no idea whether or not the connectors are compatible, but the bigger point, I think, is that you'd need to find amber lights for your new clear lenses, since the bumper mounted yellow lights on your truck are the turn signals that should be amber (or yellow, or whatever).

You can find amber bulbs. I think you might be right about the connector but not sure. I think the board snaps right in either housing so just switch your electrical board into the next light housing if you do get the used ones.

Thanks all. Replaced the two bumper lights today. Opened up the ones from the '04 and found that a lot of the little plastic buttons that hold the metal circuit down had popped off. So, I used my original old bulb-holder-back-plates, as the little plastic buttons on mine were still intact (years ago, I actually remelted those buttons to fix the ones that popped). Eventually, I'll fix the popped ones from the '04' as a spares. Got Amber 1156NA bulbs at $1.45 each. Buttoned it up and all is good.
