2000 Dii

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2000 DII, for 700 bucks. PO stated that it ran hot on her 3 times, and each time she shut it down as soon as it happened. I have looked at the truck and it is in pretty good cosmetic shape, needs a new headliner and the drivers seat is ripped, other that that it is pretty clean. I checked under the hood and there was not any coolant in the oil, it had oil leaks on the rear side of the engine, the coolant tank was almost empty. It is not like the tank on my D1, it is a translucent tank where as mine is a black tank. Anyway I guess I am asking if there is anything else I need to look for on the 2000 year dII othere than what I have already stated. or should I just walk away and keep my 700 bucks. oh yeah, if it helps any, it was sold to her by a CARMAX car lot.

I say Grab it..If all else fails you can triple your money parting it out.

Do a search on this site about Discovery head gasket leaks and overheating engines. There is alot of informative info on the subject here. Oh also do a search on DII front drive shaft issues.
