I know it was a bit of a loaded question just didn't want to tell the guy to ask one price and then have him come back and tell me I short changed him. Wasn't sure if the Kalhari was a rarity or not.

A couple seconds with the googles led me to the following article, which reports that 150 Kalahari Edition Discoveries were made in 2002.

http://www.landrover-center.com/news/Discovery-II/14320

That tells you about rarity. As for condition, I am with K-Rover. An overheated, neglected, leaking, run down Kalahari is always going to be a piece of shit truck no matter how rare it is.

The grill and rock sliders are worth more than the rest of the truck. I wouldn't think it'd be worth more than $500-1000 more than a standard Disco of similar condition.

The one in Dallas didn't sell because the owner was an idiot.... I emailed them several times, text them, and I never got a single answer to any of my questions. I was fine with 6k, and had the cash in hand, but they did not want to sell it. I gave up, moved on and got two D1's instead!

If you want crazy check out LR Dallas and their 25k D1 and 40K Range Rover Vitesse in AA Yellow (I used to own one and sold it for 6K in mint condition).

Kalahari's are great, but when the roof rack is removed, or any of the special edition stuff is missing it's just another D2.

Well,I have a d2 that is literally 1/1... It's not worh 40k... But...

Edit, I would argue that the rarest d2 are the LE's. I have seen treks, kalaharis, G4 competition trucks including a l322, two of the wicked special 35th anniversary l322, even freaking LR special vehicles defenders over here gray market. I even owned a holland and holland p38, and a 2000 vitesse p38 that was used at Equinox and I'm pretty sure the 2000 great divide rerun, But I have only ever seen 1 LE, with the brown two tone leather seats. That is crazy.

I've got an 02 Kalahari in gray, the rarest color. I bought it in 2008 with 54k miles for $12,000 on eBay from a dealer in Chicago. Throw on an extra $800 for shipping.

It now has 82k miles and is throwing CELs. LOL.

My 97 RR Vitesse in AA Yellow was a rare ride and like I said I sold it for 6K in mint condition. I've seen several LE's (your talking about the interior with a king ranch kind of leather in two tone), and at the time the LR Dealership had 3 of them side by side and they basically gave them away because no one liked the interior or the rims... Weird how things change. I almost bought a Holland & Holland after my Vitesse, but I went with a Rubicon instead. I also saw several Callaway RR's when I lived in Austin.

I wanted that yellow Kalahari in Dallas, but the seller apparently didn't want to sell it, and eventually that ad was flagged lol.

Not sure how many 50th Anniversary D1's were made, but I've got one now.

I've seen a lot more LE's come through the dealership in Richmond than Treks or Kalahari editions. The G4's are probably the most common that I would see.

Didn't the Kalahari have those seats that looked like some kind of ballistic nylon ? I haven't seen one of those in 10 years or more . And the safety devices roof rack ? If all that shit was still there it could be worth something extra .

What's really crazy is that the RR Vitesse sold. At least that was what I was told Monday morning. It's amazing how money and intelligence don't always mix.
