I have had a 2002 RR HSE since the end of 2004. It has been a very good truck. It performed beautifuly on Lion's Back in Moab, UT in the summer of '06 and recently ran the Broken Arrow Trail in Sedona, AZ. It did The Steps there with no problems. (an obstacle most oftenly seen tackled by a modified jeep)

The 4.6 is a very powerful engine. In compound low it can climb up most anything without complaining.

If you buy one, see if you can get the extended warranty. The EAS system can be expensive and seems to ware out at around 60K miles. Also see if the dealer can enable Lazy Locking so that you can use the key to romotly roll up your windows and close your moonroof with the push of a button. It really impresses the friends.

This is a very good vehicle off road that I guess the general public hasn't yet figured out.

X2 on checking the EAS, I had mine repaired on my 01 at 55K. Also check for water in the passanger side foot well. The only other problem I've had besides that is the clear coat coming off my wheels. I've had my Range since March 06 and I think it's great.

The EAS can be easily and inexpensivly fixed most of the time if you do your research and stay away from the stealership. I think the newer and lesser miles the better when it comes to buying one. I picked my 1999 because of the Bosch system and I am completely happy with mine so far. I removed a perfectly working EAS system (appeared to be all original EAS with 78k mi on it) from my truck the day I bought it because I wanted more lift, but I feel that I just traded potential problems with EAS for all new problems with driveline, etc. I've had mine for about a year now. 10-16k is quite a price range, I would pay 16k for a showroom ready truck with all service records and 50k or less miles.

We've owned a 2000 RR4.0 since late 2004. It now has 100,000 miles on it. The EAS started giving us a lot of problems, and I replaced it with an OME kit from British Pacific (about 1 inch taller than standard ride height).

We liked the EAS when it worked, but the OME setup is 100% troublefree and the ride is about the same.
