2003 DII SLS query

My brother got his hands on a brand new 2003 Disco and, after parking the truck for anything more than 4-5 hours (overnight), the rear SLS springs air out and the rear settles down a bit.

Now before we go and harrass the incompetant dealer here in Lebanon, I just want to know if this is normal and is a "design feature"? I may have thought of a rationale ("my brain") that may explain this by saying that the less air pressure into the springs will result in less fatigue to the seals/valves...etc...is this valid?

Thanks for any input

If you are loosing any height, this is not normal and should go back to the dealer.

mine first went down last winter when we had a period of like zero degrees for a week or so. then ever since i have noticed the back passenger side going down and the driver side following it. I havent gotten around to fixing it but i think the problem stated from the cold and on the passenger side. I will probably just switch to coils in the not to distant future.

Just had this problem. One of the SLS bags was leaking. Took the truck to the dealer...$650 parts and labor.

How do you change the O-ring?

Hey Lost in Boston,

How do you check for the valves and change the O-ring? Can you please elaborate? My 01 DII, after being parked overnight, would sag on the rear passenger side, but would come back to level once I've started her up and been driving for a few minutes. Given that the truck does come back up and the sagging does not occur immediately after I park it, I remain wishful that it is the O-ring rather than a leak in the SLS. I appreciate your input, as I would like for the truck to be level again.

The compressor and valves are under the driver side. take the cover off. then you shoudl be able to see where the air lines come into the valves and compressor. i forget which one goes where but if you follow the lines you can figure it out. carefully and slowly loosen the air lines from the valves (10 mm wrench) do not take them out all the way yet, let all the air out first. the air bag will not be defalted. then take the line out all the way and clean everything and check the orings. if its ripped or scratched, take it off and go to a local hardware store and match it up to a new one, if its just durty, then cleanit off.

hope that helps.
