I can think of more fun things to do with the Disco too, but I still need my shop and driveway plowwed. I own a European auto shop in upstate NY and customers would always yell at me when they see my Dodge 2500 in the lot. The plow is a 7' 6" Snow-way polly blade with down-pressure. I bought it used from a Dodge Dakota and fabbed up the mounts for it to bolt on the Disco Frame. I had to add some helper springs in the front, they replace the bump stops. I have 250 pounds in the back as a counterweight. This set up is working out great, as you can see in the pictures.
I'll take some close up pictures of the mounts if anyone want to see them.

Lock the CDL when you plow and I dont really see anything breaking if you use some common sense.

Just curious about your advice since you have experience in snow and lots of knowledge about many things Land Rover.....

I have a plow on a D1 and have tried with diff lock off and on and in most situations cannot discern any real difference. Most of my plowing is flat land on gravel or tarmac and medium levels of snow. I typically don't have traction issues.

In my situation I have some tight spaces to plow so end up with a lot of back and forth and numerous tight turns. I was concernced that all this action would contribute to "wind up" and stress on the half shafts so opted to not use CDL.

What benefits am I giving up not using CDL and is there a real concern for the strain on the drivetrain? And what about low vs. high, any advice there?

If unlocked you have the potential to shockload one of the diffs. I.E. The fronts are spinning and suddenly get traction thus transferring the load to the rear. Or something like that.

More pictures of the plow mounts and coil helper springs. The front part of the mount has U shaped pieces facing up that share the bumper bolts. The right side mount uses two existing unused hole in the frame, it is boxed so the plow presure is pushing on the frame although it is hard to see in the picture. I double welded all the pieces I made. The coils are a universal set from Napa.

Thanks guys. I am really happy with the Snow-way. I have a 9 foot Western on my Dodge, the Rover is so much quicker and easier to maneuver around in. The down-pressure feature is unique to Snow-way and really works great for back-dragging. It pushes down with another 200 pounds of force.
