I have a 2003 range rover that the battery is dying whey the truck is asleep. The mechanic said that there is a 3 to 5 mil amp draw when the truck is asleep and it is normal when the truck is awake. They have checked all of the typical items that cause the power to drain. The one thing that I am not sure may be causing this is my light control modual is bad not all of my light are working. They reason i put off having this replaced is that i just put a new rediator and oil filter housing in the truck. Could this light control modual be causing my battery to drain? They mechanic is at a loss right now. thanks :banghead:

Just had one in last week with similar symptoms. The NAV unit was staying powered up 24/7- the 2 red lamps were always on. Disconnected and no further issues. BTW-On his way to me for this diagnosis, the alternator failed, and 2 months ago was a radiator failure. In between was maintenance items like tires and brakes all the way around. The last quarter has been hard on the checkbook....

Has he tried pulling fuses to see what circuit is causing the draw? The blower motor resistor is the most common, followed by the amplifier (due to water ingress), and then the condenser fan.

ill have them chck all of those things they have been pulling fuses every one so i am told the only two things they havent done is the altenator and the cd player. The blower motor for the hvac system was the first thing they checked.

Thanks for help guys this was something they had never seen before. They replaced the Hvac panel and the hvac wire harness which prevents the automatic interior fans from coming on. It is now drawing the correct amps when shut down. The parts and labor were afordable thanks everyone.

the cooling fan on the BMW engines was a common cause . the connector is on the pass. side of the radiator shroud. its usually broken off and held in place with tie straps.

That makes me so mad! I don't understand why seemingly no one is able to take those off without breaking them.
