Now that I got the bigger stuff sorted on this rig (new head gaskets, etc.), working on the annoying littler stuff. The center brake light fell off the rear glass. The outer housing mounts with a couple of nuts to a part that's glued to the glass itself. After 20 years, the glue (whatever was used) has failed. Crusty glue residue left on both the glass and light fixture. What's best practice on what adhesive to use? I assume I got to scrape off the crud residue that's there now.

Clean the surfaces of any residue. Remove the rear cover off the housing and use JB weld epoxy. Dont put the cover on for a day so the epoxy has good time to set and when you put the cover on dont tighten it or it will put tension on the housing.

Thanks. Got the rig from the shop on Friday and started to tackle this. It's nice that the JB Weld is dark gray since I scratched a bit of the black paint on the window but it won't be noticeable with the color of the adhesive.

I had to cut the two wires to get the assembly off the car because the two screws were super stripped and I couldn't remove the cover while the whole thing was flapping against the window; I needed to get it on the bench. I mean, who re-installs something this stripped? I'll be replacing them with a couple of #6 sheet metal screws.
