So for the skiers out there, what's the ski rack solution? Skis are too long to throw 'em in the back, so... Thanks to the big tube rails, not many options.

Thanks,

When I was living in CO, I had a mount that connected to the crossbars. I can't remember who made it. But I believe it may have been a Thule product.

You can always use more traditional crossbars attached to the gutter mounts. IIRC Nissan Xterra crossbars fit on the larger 04’ bars but those may be as hard to come by as the factory LR ones nowadays

Thanks guys,

I see the that Thule has a 450R Crossroad foot with a metal/rubber strap that may work then the cross bars attach to those, then the ACTUAL ski rack gets mounted to the crossbars. Jeez. Even used parts on local craigslist would total out at around $400.
Apparently, Thule's official solution is to use "super tall gutter mounts" with the square cross bars to get above the tubes.

Amazingly, the Genuine Land Rover Parts division back in the U.K. has a ski rack for 90 pounds Sterling that is supposed to fit on all Land Rovers with a gutter.
For the price, it cannot be beat.

I'll sniff around for X-terra racks. They did seem to copy a lot of the Discovery styling q's

I ended up getting some used Thule 450Rs and Aeroblades in very good condition. The 450R's attach to the big side tubes with a rubber covered steel strap. The 450Rs slide into the slot at the bottom of the Aeroblades. For the ski rack it self, I got a used Yakima FatCat Evo 4, which straps around the Aeroblades.

thanks for all the responses,

I don't know but I've ben told
Eskimo bars are mighty cold
