My 2004 D2 steering is a bit loose. Looed all weekend for videos or DIYs on how to tighten but all I found was D1 info.
When I look at the top of the steering box I see a jam nut but the threaded portion in the center does not seem to have any hex etc in it to stop it from rotating.
Can these be tightened? and if so, where can I see the procedure?
Thx!

OK now that the degreaser has dried up I can see that somebody did me the "favor" of snapping off a torx bit in there.
Wonderful!

Before I jump into adjusting the steering box I'd be checking the steering rod tie rod ends.

When I had loose steering about six years ago I found the ones on my truck were very, very worn out and loose.

It's remarkable how loose/worn the joints can be in the steering column - way before the box becomes an issue. Hopefully, the broken head is a sign of denial by the box to the previoius "fixer."

Have recently replaced the tie rods and track rods including all joints.
I haven't wanted to accept that the column joints themselves are worn. I guess I'll have to get in there too as much as I hate that idea.
Appreciate it. (y)

Oh I should have mentioned that I'm getting a lot of "creaking" noises when I turn the truck with weight on it. That is what had me thinking steering box but I could be way off base there.
