Ok my car started having coolent on the windshield and and just smeeling like coolent so I took it to have it looked at and they told me it was the heater core. they fixed that for $1200 and I drove it home and I looked at the next morning and it had coolent all underneath it. so i took it back to the place and they said the water pump went out and that was $800. what are the odds of this happening any other ideas? Also, it didnt look like they put the dash back in together like a dealership would do. So they wernt as professional however I was wondering if it could be a problem Like they didnt put something back together to make the water pump go out?

thanks.

no. waterpump is normal. heatercore isnt quite as normal, but they can go out.

is there too much pressure in the cooling system? as the weak link is replaced, the leak will move to the next weak link.

never heard of coolant on windshield from heater core, thought it was usually wet passenger floor.

sounds like some bad luck, someone else will have more useful information than me.

A friend had a heater core go in his Expedition while driving down the highway. The result was a mist of coolant all over the windshield and into the passenger compartment.

With that, if he had been using windshield defroster, its very probable that a badly leaking heater core would cause a mist of coolant onto the inside of the windshield.
