Truck is throwing the following codes: P0154, P0174, P1174. Car has a rotten exhaust smell. At times the truck idles a bit rough. Replace O2 censors, MAF sensor? Thoughts and or Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • P0154 O2 sensor circuit no activity detected (bank 2, sensor 1) Front sensor RH bank open circuit
  • P0174 System too lean (bank 2) Multiplication injector adaptive fuelling - lean limit exceeded RH bank
  • P1174 System too lean (bank 2) Additive injector adaptive fuelling - lean limit exceeded RH bank

Your front passenger O2 sensor is bad. You should be able to fix this for about $70 and 10 minutes of your time. You're probably getting shit for mileage too.

Possible.

Or it could be so tight that after an hour of heat cycles and pb blastering it is still stuck there. At which point another chunk of time is spent chopping the sensor guts off, putting an impact socket on the remains, then constructing a 2 foot extension tree so you can get a breaker bar to it above the engine bay.

Then 10 min can be spent with cold beer to rejoice and soothe the hand you busted against the fender when the damn thing finally broke loose :D

I just had those three codes this spring. I had the rotten egg smell, the strange idle, and it was getting about 10 mpg. New O2 sensor fixed all that.

A couple weekends ago I managed 14.5. It weighed in over 6100lbs with a couple pelicans and cans on the rack. If you're getting less than 10 regularly, something is seriously wrong.
I should add that mine was the drivers side. Passenger may be an easier spot.
oh absolutely, the drivers side is a complete pain in the ass.

It's in the exhaust right in front of the firewall. Open the hood and look down between the engine and the brake master cylinder.

I would take apart and clean out the connector before you replace it. I'd say I have a 70% success rate of fixing O2 sensor faults in disco's by doing this. You also need to pull out the white plastic bit in the connector because oil and coolant get trapped behind it.
