Just got back from the Madrid Int. Auto Show and no new Freelander at the Land Rover display. The Land Rover display was super weak! 2 RR, 2 RRS, 1FL, 1LR3 on an articulation display stand and one D90 SW.

Kind of disapointing, but the Santana display was really cool.

Later, Paul

Look at new Volvo S80 ( the new one not the old one) 3.2 liter straight six.

BTW, Axel, another forum I frequent has at "LR request" taken down the pictures linked to here and on another thread in Dweb, since they are from the catalog. Seems someone out there has broken an embargo on information. For this thread I took the links from that forum but have no way to delete them from this forum. I did not post them on that other forum.

From what I've read, the engine will be up to 230hp with options.

It's set to be called the "LR2" from what I've heard. A huge upgrade from the Freelander, this is supposed to compete with BMW's x3/x5

Ya, I'll bet it will just as expensive too.

Doubtful. I expect it to cost about the same as the Freelander, starting at about 28k. Anyways, here's some new pictures.

I don't know, they jacked the price way up on the LR3 over the Disco, why wouldn't they do the same here if it's supposed to be a huge improvement?

Anyone else notice that in the third photo, there seems to be a stainless mesh grille, a la Supercharged RR/RRS?

May have missed something - remember mentions of lots of horsepower - but could there be a LR2 Supercharged?

IMO, of any Rover to do it on, that's the one. Closest thing to a sports car you can get with LR.

I thought the same thing. That would be...pretty neat.

I do know they will offer up to 230hp, I'm not sure if they plan to offer a supercharged model. We'll find out soon enough though. :)

My guess is it will start at around $33k and option out at around $40k. I don't think it will do well in the small suv market at those prices. It's biggest competition will be the jeep liberty which is quite a bit less expensive. But hey, I've been wrong before.

Anyone heard if it will have a low range? If so, I think it may be more attractive to many who don't like the EAS on the LR3.

No, it will compete with the ML and X3/X5. I think it'll do a good job.
