Did you watch the video?!
I love it! I know it looks a little like an Escape...but I like it a lot better than the old one.

If it's cheaper than $35K, I'm getting one.

Ps It's on the US site now too.

I don't know, they jacked the price way up on the LR3 over the Disco, why wouldn't they do the same here if it's supposed to be a huge improvement?

Isn't the LR2/FL2 supposed to be for the sub 30k market? It would be pointless to price it at 35-40k since you can just get an LR3/Disco3 for that much.

You know, I may be alone on this, but it doesn't sit right with me. They did some updating of some of the components (grille, etc), but they kept the same overall shape (which I didn't like in the first place). The front, with its long hood and sloping grille/headlight assembly, is remeniscent of a Honda Pilot. The back, cut short at the roof and angled down, has the same queues as a Subaru Outback Sport. IMHO, if LR would square off both of the front and rear, the Freelander would look a lot more utilitarian/aggressive (could be the first ever combination of those two words) and fit more with the rest of the LR line. Until then, I just can't get past that...

I think where Chris got that information from may be a simple conversion of projected UK prices into US dollars. Several places have stated the UK prices will start at about 20,000 GBP. This converts into $36,000 +/-.

This is a faulty assumption. Look at UK prices for the current models. They pay substantially more for the vehicles over there. An HSE RRSport goes for 42,800GBP. That converts to $77,800!

Although nothing is offical yet, Land Rover NA is looking to bring the car in at close to the price point of the entry level Discovery. I'd look for closer to $30,000 to start and $36-37,000 loaded.

Remember, the price will go up over the old model. We need room for the LR1.

That pricing is exactly what I thought. I really don't think it's going to compete well in the US at those prices. There are just too many other options for small SUV's with road manners that have a lower price tag.

I was intrigued by the first pics, a mini range rover. Wish they blacked out the A and C pillars which I think would help keep it from being a cute-ute. I just realized the c-pillar is body colored on the disco and lr3 which look ok.

Those articles say diesel in early 07. That better come here especially with 37 MPG. This could be my new daily driver.

If the engine is anything like the TDV6 I drove last week, while on vacation, they can bring all the LR products over here, with diesel power. It accelerated really well, is really quiet and did over 26 mpg (UK gallons are a bit bigger..........) fully loaded with 6 adults and gear in a mix of driving.

LRO magazine says it's about the same size as the old Disco, so I'll be putting in my order when it gets here. I don't need an LR3's space but my 02 SE is a bit crapped at times.

Got a brochure today in the mail. Looks pretty sweet, but I'd rather wait for a cheap used LR3.
