Hey Peter, Steve and I are actually at the Olde Bridge Grille right now having a beer and sandwiches. We are camping on top of Schnebly Hill Road tonight just south of Flagstaff. Are you pushing straight thru to SDiego tonight? If you want to join us you are more than welcome.

Wait, the great Dweb Overland trip is over already? Where are the 4 pages of pics of your food and awesome unobtanium Sporks?

Ben, isn't that the same hill we pulled you up in your Range Rover?

It looks super filled in...

Yep, Bobby's Hole... It's way filled in at that spot but around that corner get's a lot worse. I really couldn't believe we got my rangie out of there after driving it all again.

It also made me realize how big of a dumb ass I was to go there so unprepared before.

Okay. Who's down for doing this again next Spring?

It damned near broke my heart to receive offers to fly out and ride shotgun and not be able to do it.

Stu, we're definitely going to do it again next year.

We talked about a couple of options:

One was a tour of the mountain ranges that border the Colorado Plateau. We would start in Ouray, CO and go over Black Bear Pass to Telluride. From there, we would follow the Uncompaghre Plateau into Utah and spend a night in the La Sals. Then it's on to Elk Ridge in the Abajos and finally, a night in the Henrys. This kind of trip would have less hardcore wheeling but lots of camping in beautiful meadows, etc. We would probably do this trip around June/July, when it's hot down below but nice and cool in the mountains.

Another option would take us from Lake Powell to Zion NP via Grand Staircase/Boulder and the canyons south of Escalante. This would be more of a canyons/red rock trip and would be good for mid/late-April.

I'm in, provided my job doesn't get knocked into a cocked hat between now and then.

I sent my best friend the links to the trip report and pics and he's got the fever now, as well.

48 weeks to go.

Tick tock.

(I guess I'll be the first to start whining about dates :bigok: )

My son's birthday is April 18, so if we could avoid that week I'd appreciate it. He's much too young or else I'd tell him (and his mom) 'We're spending your birthday in Utah!'. Now she'd just glare at me and he'd start talking about Thomas the Tank Engine.

I'd like to do the 2013 trip at least a week or two later to hit the--hopefully--warmer temperatures. Maybe first week or May or something.
