nov. 4, 5, 6. looks like it will be a lot of fun. if your interested in going email Howard <wreckerfc@aol.com> Their will be a group driving out from the boston area... The following is cut and paste from one of the other rover boards.
It's an old time kind of event (UK style) - loads of people know others, sometimes only meeting here each year. Then there are groups that regularly "wheel" together then there are loners and even 'newbies' to Rovering who love it. Responcible dogs and kids are also welcome...
Low key event on our 100 acre horse farm. Big bonfire Sat evening. Wheeling of all types all weekend - from Fri and some even show up on Thur evening. There are non damaging supermarket only type trails right up to a mud run only possible the best prepared and much modified, powerful vehicles. Rock gorges. Some hill climbs, loads of tree lined twisty trails, often winching. Dead tree dragging (to bonfire), new trail cutting. Fixing of Rovers is a regular favourite whether it be brake downs en route to event, or damage and equipment failures on the trails. There is plenty to see and even walk to since it is all contained on the farm - even ride-alongs for those who want to experience stuff but only have street tyres etc. It's a really great atmosphere, no commercialism, save for an anonymous donation bucket to pay for the porta potty etc. Many camp, loads hit the hotels at the end of the road, and there is a big trailer turned into a bring and share type canteen, barbeques etc., for the evening meals and lunch and everyone pitches in - the wife does do some cooking but cant cater for the unknown numbers!
What is your Rover connection? All types are welcome, from the restored Series I, to the fully prepped Disco, 101's and latest Rangies. Personally, I'm an exmilitary, series/leafspring kind of a guy, but being English, all Rovers are great.
We have a few do's and don't's, since it is a working horse farm and all the trails are off of hay fields, camping is in the out door arena - no vehicles (indoor arena used if conditions bad), horses and our dogs need to be considered, and we request minimal use of driveway to house / shop and running tyres up the road to unload them before using the driveway - that sort of stuff - pretty self explanatory though you'd be surprised at how occasionally someone "forgets" and we find muddy foot prints in the house, or tyre tracks right across the middle of a field.
