Mounted a new pair last Sat. & I have to say I absolutely love these tires. Everything fit perfect on a stock suspension, and no need to mess with re-mounting the spare bracket, door closed perfect. I could not believe how quite these tires were from those stock Michelins. I wanted to go a little taller, but didn't want to chance any rubbing. Truck looks great with the white out. :victory:

I went from stock Miches to BFG MTs and decided to get a set of ATs for the daily driver set. I too absolutely love them. I almost hate to do the tire switch when I go wheelin'.

Don't kid yourself. If you are in a D1 and go wheeling those 245's will trash your rear quarter.

Yeah but any rubbing will end up chewing your fenders or tires. Ask me how I know.

Here's my bro-in-law on 245/75 bfg at stock '97:

you must of had some really sagging springs, bri.

Nope, not at all Justin, I have not left springs on my rig for longer than about 10k miles. I think D1/D2 are apples and oranges WRT this issue.

When I ran 245s, I had fresh OME. With stock fenders on a D1 it is very well known that you will rub, and mine did bad. Of course if you just hit the mall and dirt roads you will never notice.

Get your brothers truck on a wall with one wheel about 24" or more above the other and find out. That pic is not all that stuffed, 245s can stuff real far.

The BFG AT K/O in size 245/75/16 is a 10 ply tire with an E load rating. Those of you that have this size tire, is the ride too harsh?

I swapped out my stock 18s for BFG A/Ts on 16" rims on the D2 two weeks ago. They are a little taller but have plenty of room. They are quiet and handle really well on the road. Great with ACE too. I thought I was going to have to mod the spare but it fit fine. Awesome tires.

I have them and would rather have a D rated tire for my needs.

I'm considering getting the ATs for my unlifted D2. The other size I saw recommended was 255/70R16D. What's the safer size?

Guys. Learn to take some advice here. P Mand I are pretty confident about our answers here since we have run all kinds of tires. I have run these exact tires and also 245/75 in the MT tread.

Do some searches, read the tech and take our advice. I assume since you are looking at 245/75s for a D1 that you are likely to get off road.

They will rub in a number of places and lift will not necessarily solve the problem. You can thank us for this advice now and address it, or you can curse yourself when you bend your rear quarter panel the first time-- you make the choice. ;)
