255/85/R16's on a stock series?

will they fit? im running stock springs........at some point this year im thinking about getting parabolics. i can get some Cooper Discover ST's for $111 a tire with free shipping in the 255/85/R16 size..........so can it be done?

Not too well.. pretty sure its going to grab the front of the fender if you bounce. I test fitted a BFG 255/85 out of curiosity and it was damn snug.

You can run 33 x 9.50 on your stock 15in wheels. Your turning radius is that of the queen mary, but it looks and works well.

they fit the 1 ton and military chassis with the 2" longer shackles.

also shallower offset wheels will fit better than the one shown in the picture.

well here are my rim options right now

1 find some 16in 109 rims
2 order a set of new NATO rims from RN
3 run disco 1 steel spairs( i already have 1 just need 3 more)

I vote for 3 with 235 85 R16.

They are better wheels (tubeless with the safety bead which prevents bead loss offroad) and cheap.

1 looks the best.

NATO wheels are overpriced and not really much good for anything unless you find the tubeless kind and even then they are horribly heavy and need painting to look halfway decent after a couple years.

the reason im looking at the 255's is cuz i can get them cheep(non blems are abour $205)

rim wise if i can find them ill go with the 109's.........i already have 1 steel spare so i just need 3 more, mabye Will T has some:D

Good choice. I recently fitted 235/85s on the Disco. Just for grins, I rolled one up against the 7.50x16s TracEdges on the '72 Series III - probably the most common size for Series rigs - that is, back when the 7.50x16 was still commonly avaiable. They were damn close in both height and width....
