Well gents, they don't fit, in fact they were not even close. The tire was a
BF Goodrich At KO on a stock D-2 with no mods, serious rubbing on the front lower bumper (driver and passenger) when turning right or left. I remeber someone posting a comment that they were running this size on their 03 D-2, I guess I don't see how they are doing this without some cutting and pasting? Anyway, I went with a 245\75R 16 that fits just right! ;)

not sure what the difference is, but I did put those on a 2k DII with very very minor rubbing on the inside of the well, no lift. I just cut the frfont splash guard off, no problems now. But again, they probably are designed different than your 04

Hey Scott
The 04 has a longer shorter turning raidus than 99-03 DII
So taller tires will hit bumbers and raidus arms.
Sorry i forgot :(
I put my lift and longer stops on the day i got my 04

265/75/16 do NOT fit on a stock D2. I put some on a friend's stock truck and we had to do some moderate front fender and wheel well cutting. A modest 2" lift fits the tires perfectly.

Just put 255/70/16's A/T-KO's on a 99DII, (love'em BTW) they miss the lower front bumper by mabye 1/2". I don't see how 265's could squeeze in there. Manuf differences mabye?

There is about a 1\2 to 3\4 of an inch from tire to tip of lower bumper with the 245\75R 16. When I put the 265 on there was maybe a 1\8 inch, but as soon as I turned it, it rubbed. Even with a two inch lift, I think its going to be tight, for those of you out there that are contemplating this move.

Wierd...I put on 265/75's on my 99 DII with no problems except I had to slightly adjust the steering stops. Now granted, I didn't go offroading or do anything requiring articulatoin until I put in a 3" lift

Jamil:

Don't know about the 04,

But 265\75 R16 BFG Mud Terrain KM tires fit my 2001 DII. When installed, my vehicle was stock, and the tires fit fine. Under full steering lock in reverse, they rubbed the radius arms a bit, nothing to worry about though. As a matter of fact, I wished I had gotten the 33s, because there was still plenty of room in there even under articulation.

Cheers,

Kennith

I also had no rubbing problems except in reverse at near full lock with mine (01 D2), I have driven mine about 1500 miles like that. Hopefully today is the last day my truck will have stock springs so I expect to begin worrying about more important things, like buying more stuff for the truck.

I run 255/70R16s on a 99 DII and I seem to recall that when I got them I had to spend some quality time with a sawzall on the wheel wells and surrounding areas to stop them from rubbing. I find it hard to believe that 265/75R16 would fit on stock. Maybe the folks that reported this to work OK had some real new springs on their vehicle at the time?

Nope,

As I recall My springs weren't actually doing all that well at the time. The factories had lost about an inch of height and were leaning. That's why I went out and bought the OME setup. I always try to upgrade rather than replace.

Like I said, I could have easily thrown the 33s under there no problem. There was plenty of room for them. I suppose that it's possible there are a few differences between model years that we don't know about, but I think something like that would be more readily apparent.

Cheers,

I just put 245/75/16 mt/r's on my 01 D2 and do not see how in the world you could fit those 33's. Maybe the 265's if you cut out the splash guards. Some people have all the luck...

What? you're kidding right? 33's on a stock D2, let's assume you're refering to narrow 33's, say 255/85's, they don't even work properly with a true 2 1/2" lift.

And as for the 265/75-16", there are substantial "same-size" differences between manufacturers, my own BFG MT km's (265/75-16's) rubbed quite a bit - enough that it was not acceptable.

I put 265/75 with a OME 2" lift and have had no rubbing at all.

I think what is confusing some is that you DO require a lift of some sorts to accommodate 265's. You would be hard pressed to get 245's into a stock set-up.

OK, this is getting weird...

I have almost 70k on my springs, but I do have new factory shocks (which i wish I never got, long story...) I slapped 265/75 BFG's on there, no other mods at all, no bump stops, no trimming, nothing, and all is good. I heard ***very*** minor rubbing on one wheel well because it was cracked. I tore it off. But the other side is perfect, no need for anything. Now, if I go on a trail, I will hit the top wheel well, or the fender in a tricky articulated turn, but I can fit my hand plus some inbetween the tire and the fender...

now I will say that I look almost like I lowered the truck, I really wish I had the cash for at least a 1 inch lift, but I have to pay someone to do it since I live in a city apartment, with no room to work.

Someone even asked why I lowered my rover, I was pretty embarassed. It looks OK, but does need a slight lift to look balanced.

anywas, I want to know why there are so many different reports.

BTW, I am driving a 2k DII with old ass OEM springs (that seem to be loosing there lift ability BTW.) and brand spanking new OEM shocks.

Jesse,

Atlantic British has 1" spacers for $59.00 a pair, which will give you that 1" lift your looking for at a minimal cost. I just spoke with them on Friday, these spacers just came in!

OK, once again I ended up putting 245\75R 16's on my stock 04 D-2, no rubbing, no cutting, no mutilation of any kind! The 265's were simply too big and will not work without a lift. Even with a 2" lift your probably gonna have to do some modifications to the lower front bumper when you go off road. Again this is for a 04 D-2, I can't speak for the earlier models.

Strange, Isn't it.

I drove around for a while with the 265\75s and stock suspension, no problem... Plenty of room left over. Truck looked mean as hell, too. Like some kind of Hot Wheels Car.

Cheers,

Kennith
