Has anyone run this size tire on their LR3? Any rubbing problems?
TIA

135.00 is a good price for any 18" tire! I'll be keeping those in mind.
Thanks

At 275/65/18, you are 32" tall, which is going to rub quite a bit when off roading. A 31.5" tire (285/60/18) has proven to be as tall as you can go with only slight or mild rubbing when stuffed (full compression). If you have rear air conditioning, this is something to seriously consider, because the refrigerant lines run in an area that the right rear tire makes contact with.

Also, if you need to fit tire chains due to your location or use, start thinking 31", such as a 275/60/18, which is harder to find.

Of course, you can modify your ride height sensors or have an indy shop with a Testbook modify your software to increase your ride height and inch or so to help alleviate rubbing, but still, 32" is going to be really tall when off roading. Maybe you can fit bump stops :)

Thanks for that link nwoods. I think I'll be looking for something more in the range of a 265/60/ or possibly 275/60. BTW, I'm in S. Florida so chains aren't an issue.

I'm very interested in hearing how those work out. Keep us posted.

Still waiting for the dealer to finish their part. replacing worn front bushings. I need the front end fixxed before I go with the tires, but I'll let you know and get photos when it happens.

You have a stock front bumper? My 265/65x18 rub slightly on the inner edge of the arb at about 3/4 to full turn.

Nwoods, didn't you list the Goodyear MTR LT275/65R18 as a tire that would work with no problems?? Or will this tire rub? If it will rub, is there another Goodyear MTR size that will work? Thanks.

In my opinion, the 275/65/18 size is too large to fit without complications related to rubbing. This is based on off road use in stock Off Road height. If you lift it via software and/or the level height sensors, you may have fewer problems, but you are still going to rub.

Having said that, in the past few months I know of half a dozen or more people attempting to fit this size (in various tires), but none of them have really put their truck through the rigors of off road use as of yet.

Thanks Nwoods- are there any mud tires that will fit without complications. I ask that while in a deer stand in a very muddy area in Mississippi. Or a good alternative?

I am preparing to cut out part of the rear fender well, the part that normally covers the rear AC lines. I am also planning on cutting out some of the front too. This will take some re-manufacturing, but a cutting torch on a LR3 has got to be fun. Actually it appears that I will have to cut a nice size chunk out of the rear, then replace with 16 gauge steel plate. Tack it up, seal around it then cover it in rubberized coating. Once it is done. I'll post the details. The front I am planing on cutting as needed, won't really know until I get the thing off-road a few times. All of this will be done before the lift. The lift will be "trail" and error for the first few times. I have been working on a spacer above the airbag and a shortened lever, that way the air pressure remains the same and the computer don't freak out if the spacer and the level sensor arm work together the computer will never know it has been changed. I am expecting 3/4" to 1" with no problems but time will tell.

Nathan, I'll be at "nightmare" next week-end with you, so that ought to be a good test.
