Just completed the ABS Mod from: http://www.landroverclubvi.com/abs-mod.html

Performed the Option B (starts at step 37). Kept the ABS unit in place (Steps 19-30) but realized there is no need to remove the modulator side of the ABS (steps 21, 24, 30) just the SVS cover plate (steps 27-29). Took about 2.5 hrs.
Bought the 2 wire trailer harness from OReillys for $1.99.
Tested ABS on wet train rails embedded in the street - slammed the brakes and ABS did its pulsating magic. No Amigos. Hopefully this solves the problem for good.

good luck

Great, glad it worked for you! Now for everyone reading this, if your amigos come back on and it happens to be the shuttle valve 114 error, it may be caused by the shuttle valves leaking brake fluid on the switches and interrupting the signal....

Hopefully you guys inspect the shuttle valve switches for brake fluid leaks and repair it with THIS KIT while it's out!

Previous shuttle valve switch repairs that most DII's have had in the past work temporarily because it doesn't take care of the leaking shuttle valves...

There should be a 3 Amigos sticky thread with the writeup and success stories. I did the same mod (plus the linked reseal kit) late last year before a ski trip to SLC. No more Amigos and the ABS/TC did it's stuff.

I think I'm missing how to decide which option to do. My amigos came on today... grrrrrrrr...

I'm wondering now: Is the brake pedal supposed to pressurize and make the sort of grunting sound when the car starts? I know it does that often, always has, but I noticed that it didn't do that today and it made me think that maybe some part of whatever the problem is.

Anyway....

By the way, when you say you only had to remove the SVS cover plate -- does that mean you only did steps 27-29? Or did you undo the brake lines and all that as well before getting to the point where you can get to those hex screws underneath?

If I'm reading this right, it looks like he takes the whole thing out, then opens the cover plate. Then he shows you how to open the cover plate without taking the whole thing out, right?

Also, if you do option B, you are essentially disabling the fault sensing abilities - right?

Thanks for sharing.
Mine, approaching 12 years old and 76K, and still amigos-free, so far. I flushed the entire brake fluid every 2 years, no mater the mileage.
But good to have this on hand as a 3 amigos survival guide.

Best regards from Spain

In my write-up i explain how to do several things. OPTION B specifies that you follow certain steps to do the repair WITHOUT removing any brake lines...or modulator completely.
RE-READ Step # 38.

Hope this clears it up

RB I have the amigo reader tool. If you want to use it just come on out to the wrecking yard. Just give me a heads up to make sure I'll be in the office.
