I posted the below on the D-90 page and thought I would throw it over here as I am a Disco owner now.
Yes, I know that these are always a hot topic and people have lots of mixed opinions.
I don't want to start another "what is legal" post. I have read the sticky's and find all the conversation very educational. I fully understand some will hate this vehicle and some won't care. I have been a lurker on this page for several years and read all the warnings before I ever bought it. I am selling my vehicle on some Craig's Lists and locally and thought I would throw it up on this page in case someone else who doesn't mind the Series Title issues would like to have a great TDI D-90. A lot of you have helped me with rover questions and I am very much appreciative.
Vehicle:
I am the second US owner and have owned it for about 10k miles. I did not import the vehicle, but however purchased it in the US. It is/was my daily driver. I get about 26mpg on average and the vehicle has zero mechanical issues. There are no drips or leaks anywhere on the vehicle...except water from the front when it rains heavily like all Defenders. The engine is complelty clean and has the timing belt update. Vehicle has 84K miles. The Interior looks like brand new. You can't even tell it has been used. The exterior has zero dents and scratches.
3 issues with the vehicle.
1) Needs a new tailpipe
2) Slight bubbling of paint around each door handle
3) There is some rust forming underneath the running boards(not on the vehicle but the running boards)
I had a TDi D-110 and TDi- D-90. I thought the Defender was exactly what I wanted and I was basically choosing which one I wanted. I decided the D-110 was to bulky and hard to drive and sold it with plans of keeping the D-90. I since have decided that the Defender just doesn't work as well for my family as i thought and these really weren't the best decision for me. So yesterday, I purchased a '03 Disco II SE7 with 48K miles. I paid 16K. I think that was a fair pirce???
Anyway, I am selling the D-90 and just going back to a normal Disco. I want to get it sold quickly so I am offering it up at the best offer by the next coming weekend. I paid $31,500 for it(not sure if I over/under paid) but hope just to get my money back out of it. If I don't get my money out of it then "live and learn".
If you are interested and understand that the vehicle is on a Series title and not a NAS D-90 please email me or pm me. I have it titled and insured in the State of Nebraska. It is insured for a "said" amount of 40K. The VINS in the engine bay and on the chassis match the VIN on the title and I had no issues passing inspection, however I am well aware of the issues that people have with a vehicle titled in this manner. I have tons of pictures of the underneath, engine bay, interior and exterior. You can email me at edved@windstream.net for more photo's or to ask questions.
Again, thanks for all your guys help and pm's when I had questions as I am not a mechanic at all. I guess I will be moving more of my time to the Discoweb board for my Disco questions. I will always be lurking to see what you guys/gals are up to.
One thing I will note...this is a sad story. When I went to the Ford(new landrover) Dealership to look for a Disco I was driving in the Defender and the salesman that was helping me asked me what I was driving and that he really liked it?!? I told him it was a Land Rover and he was like "really". No West Chester dealerships in my area
Just kinda sad that alot of Rover dealerships have really lost heritage knowledge and are really just Ford guys. Anyway.
Thanks
