Any one has installed 35x10.50R16 SSR Series Super Swamper Radial on a Disco II? Do they make a lot of noise at high speed? What about the performance in wet pavement?

Thanks on advance,
Peter

I have the 33/10.5/16 Bogger. make decent amount of sound, but not as bad as i thought. They dont handle well on any pavement, but i bought them for the mud so i didnt mind. I assume the 35's may act similar.

Not quite the same tire; the bogger is a bias ply, while the SSR is radial, and siped to boot. Granted, the bogger is a pretty kick ass tire!

I ran a set of 285/75/R16 SSRs, and was very impressed with them, both on road and off. For the softness of the tire, they handled and lasted very well on the pavement, and were great offroad. Their stopping ability impressed me as well (remember though, getting stock Disco brakes to slow down a 35" tire will probably be more difficult than not locking them up!)

Do bear in mind that they are a mud tire, and as such are soft, which will speed wear. I did not find the road noise objectionable, but that was in a soft top with a custom exhaust ... still, they were quieter than the set of Buckshots that I ran, and more predictable, too.

Hope this helps ...

Did everything from:

235/85 16
32x10.5
35x10.5
36x13.5

Tallest tire is limited to the drivetrain, not to the fitment of the tire itself

So what is the tallest tire that can be run on a D1? I went to our local 4x4 jamboree and now have tire envy

Well,

1. 3" OME lift, 2" body lift, flares, bumpstops & brakelines extended.
2. Toy-conversion kit with 4.88s, ARBs, 30 spline cromo axles and CVs
3. A healthy V8
4. 36x13.5x15 IROKs on 15x10" rims

Driveshafts are stock and lift is "off-the-shelf" items for durability and ease of maintenance.

Nadim,
How did you do that 2" body lift? I?m looking for some info on body lift for my 99 disco II, I know rovertym has 2" Body Lift for Disco I but I don?t think I can used it on my disco?, I have OME springs (HD) with OME shocks and steering damper, planning on getting 33? tires but I want to go bigger 35" if I can get them fit with out rubbing. I?m changing gears, diffs, axles, driveshafts. Any suggestions?

Can't help you with the DII, but I can tell you that it is simple, sturdy, and does the job right - you may wanna post a new thread on this to attract better answers

Peter, at one time I was running the tires that you are asking about. For them to fit, in addition to the already mentioned mods, you'll need to trim your fenders and rear doors, and run extended radius arms to push the axles out towards the ends of the vehicle.

Plus, be forewarned that you'll be running on borrowed time with that size tire on the Rover driveline. Even with the HD parts that are out there, you'll be taxing them and need to keep that in mind when wheeling.

Thanks for the info Greg; I was thinking about this a lot so I?m going to go with 255/85/16. I know that some of the guys in Disco Web have these tires running on there Discos II with only 3" OME lift.
Any thoughts on this?.

You don?t have by any chance pics from your disco with the 35"?

Thanks,
Peter
