Has anyone looked into or completed a 4.0 to 4.6 conversion kit from RPI Engineering?
Do you just modify your existing 4.0 block to accomodate the 4.6 parts and change your chip to like the 4.6 stuff?

Thanks,

Uh, the 4.6 has a bigger bore or longer stroke. You will have to change out the bottom end (block, crank, pistons, rods, etc) to upgrade to a 4.6.

If you want more power, you can have the cylinder heads rebuilt and tricked out. Also get a hotter camshaft and intake. Bigger injectors would be needed and a re-mapped ECU. Its been done and a sure way to put out more power.

It does not have a bigger bore.

All you have to do is swap:
Cam
Crank/pistons/rod etc assembly into 4.0 block

The big ticket item is the chip for a GEMS motor. Someone here used a 4.6 RR prom, but had some issue because of the non-electric trans in the disco.

Anyone with an Autolodgic can reflash/remap the ECU to make up the difference of the displacement. About an hour to one and a half hours for computer time, at about 85.00 an hour.....

If you swap a Bosch 4.6 block into your GEMs truck, you need to cut out the Crank Position sensor plates and tack weld the 4.0 plate to the 4.6 block. Simple to do, you just need a tig welder, or Alum rods for your stick welder.....Other than that, everything else is the same on the two blocks.

Put your money in the heads.....

I am the one who tried to use the 4.6 PROM. I didn't notice any difference and had a check engine light for the trans temp sensor. I haven't had my ecu flashed yet because the dealership in STL doesn't know how!

I don't think the dealership can do it. I think they use a different computer system that does not give the option to change shit like that. There may be more, but I only know that Autolodgic can do it...
