Will the 4.0 engine work in a 1995 RRC LWB. I know the entire motor wont work but what parts will.
I sold a friend my 1998 D1 about one year ago. It had 150k on it but the motor only had about 40k on it. Probabably the best running D1 I've owned. Well he wrecked it the other day and I'm sure the insurance company will total it. I was thinking about trying to buy it from the insurance company for a parts car if the motor can be used in the RRC at a later date.

Yes it will work. I had a 4.0 from a disco rebuilt and installed it in my classic. He'll need to use the intake and accessories from the classic on the disco engine. All should bolt on. Aside from some fiddling here and there it's a strait forward swap.

I cant remember if the 95 classic went to GEMS management completely or just got the serp belt . Its been a long time since I've seen one . I think it would be easier to put a GEMS engine into a CUX truck because the crank sensor would just be unused . I guess I would just want to look at the crank sensor for GEMS and make sure before you get started .

'95 Classic got the serpentine belt but is still 14CUX. Installing a 4.0 would be just like installing a 4.6, you need to change the cam to one with a distributor drive, replace the lifters to match along with the timing set and use the intake manifold, front cover, oil pan and pickup tube, and all accessory mounts from the 14CUX motor. And you'll need a crankshaft spacer for the longer crank snout on the 4.0.
