4.6 HSE for towing

I have a 98 Disco I use for towing. I find it a bit amemic, particularly going up any kind of incline.
I have my eye on a 2001 P38 Range Rover 4.6. Should I expect much of a performance improvement with the 4.6 Rangie?
Also from a service standpoint, are these Rangies OK, or will It be plagued with troubles?

I had a 98 and it was a dog towing a simple light trailer.

i have a 2004 and its much better but still a dog towing.

i leave the rover home and use my 96 youkon work horse 208,000 miles and she never misses a beat.
and gets better gas mileage all around.

I've used my 95 Classic w/ a 3.9 to tow a twin axle open trailer with a heavy Disco on it. Tows slow, but steady, to about 65mph. Stops well also. Been spoiled by Powerstrokes and Cummins though...

I wou;dn't own a P38 Rangie if you gave it to me. They are the worst of the plague.
