Anyone out there running close to a 5 inch lift on a D2?

I'm looking for length measurements, pinion angles for the front and rear driveshafts. I don't have my lift yet it's on order from RTE. I've ordered the RTE 4 inch lift with 1 inch spacers. Looking to pick up the props and have them in hand while installing the lift.

Will I need to run Woods Multiple Double Cardan driveshafts or will a standard Double Cardan setup do both front and rear?

Thanks in advance.

Not suggesting either way, but from the TW website: With vehicles in the near 3" lift range, we suggest converting to the conventional double cardan drive shaft. In vehicles with greater amounts of lift you may want to consider our multiple double cardan drive shaft. This is especially true in situations where you are unable to maintain proper geometry for the conventional double cardan."

You have measure when the lift is on the truck...that will determine everything...Why so much lift?

RTE 4 inch and a 1 inch spacer is going to sit close to 6 or more higher before they settle in unless you have a lot of gear. Those suckers are stiff.

I have RTE 3" springs and 1" spacers. After installing the RTE trailing arms there is a vibe that has developed. Seems like the TA's either over corrected the pinion, or the angle is too much for the double cardon Woody to handle. I called TW's shop and asked if I needed a double-double cardon. I was told that it's a lot of weight and at highway speeds will still vibe, and I should look into adjustable arms. That's not really an option for the D2 so I'm talking with Bill at RTE to get another set of TA's fabbed up that will nix the vibe.

I'm running the 4" springs on my truck with a TW standard double cardon in the front and stock in the rear. I assume at some point the rotoflex is going to explode and then i will switch out to U joints on the rear but not a double cardon.
i'm running 35"s and have no vibration at highway speed or any other speed for that matter.

Thanks for the responses guys. I currently have a Tom Woods Double Cardan in the front. Rear is stock. I'll install the lift and see what it looks like at that point. First on the post lift priority list will be a TW DC rear shaft.

Take care...

Thanks Greatdivide1,

I wasn't aware a RRC rear shaft was an option. I'll have to do a some searching regarding the swap.

You have any pics with your 5inch lift installed?

Are you running the RTE 4 inch with 2 inch spacers rear and 1 inch front?

As for the the rear shaft its a stock rrc shaft but you need to swap out the flex flange for the standard 4 bolt flange. I just bought a front diff off Ebay and swapped it in the rear.

Ya I cut out the Watts Link. What a waste of time to try and get that thing to flex with that! The panhard rod even thos its short still allows the rear to flex like crazy, compaired to what it was!!

KyleT ya that why I got a SE7 with every option for $800. With 120k on it. Lol had the be rails boxed up,welded and in place in a cpl hours.

you can box until salt-n-peppa gets back together....but we have a better chance of marky mark and the funky bunch do a reunion tour.

does your truck flex or is it like the super duty's that like to smoke me at the red lights????? not hating at all, i dig the size, but need to see some trail shots...and not a mud hole, off camber 50 degrees with the body flatter than chinese 13 year old girl.

Geez. That's the Anti-Kennith!

I think any flex experienced when driving that vehicle is coming from the frame.

Cheers,

this is like the scene in Ghostbusters when Sigourny Weaver asks Bill Murray if he's the key master.

btw, Kenny, how's the herpes doing? did the creme work, or do you need to get more shots?
