Well L8 was out of spring and not sure if they were ordering new ones and RTE 5" are just too HD for my liking. So I decided to experiment with some non-rover springs. The rear are probably too light for most people but I don't carry a lot of crap in the back so I'm hoping they will work.

Right now it's sitting at closer to 5.5" so I might still have to play with it some more if they don't settle any. It rides down the road pretty well. I'll see how it does off road in April.

A quick Google search showed that curb weights were similar. I don't recall the year of the FJ, but the '04 D2 was w/in 50 lbs I think. You may be just fine.

True, but I'm running all front springs. The rear springs are too big to fit into the upper spring buckets and I didn't want to modify them. So I used light duty for the front and HD for the rear. They are 220lbs/in rate, which is still a little stiffer than stock and about equal to TF light duty rears. So I think it will be ok as long as I don't load the truck down with lots of crap.

It definitely rides smoother than it did before.

I'm thinking you could squeeze some 35's under there. More info on the srings por favor.

I'm sure and they are in the plans. Problem is these only have about 300-400 miles on them. So it's hard to justify. 35x12.50's are not enough of an increase to justify them. Plus I would need 15" wheels. So I'm thinking some Q78's would be nice. Maybe even some 36x12.50 swampers. But those are not cheap.

The springs are OME FJ-80 front springs. The upper end is roughly the same size as Rover springs so they fit into the upper spring buckets. The bottom tapers in so you need to make new perches. You get an extra 1/2" of lift by using new perches because the stock ones drop 1/2" below the mount. I didn't account for that so it ended up a little higher than I wanted.

The front i'm using OME 2851, roughly 18.9" tall and 220lbs/in linear rate.
The rear I'm using OME 2850J, roughly 20.5" tall and 220lbs/in linear rate.

I initially tried the OME2853's for the rear. Which are roughly 19.1" tall and 275lbs/in linear rate. Unfortunately they were for an FJ70 which has skinnier springs so they didn't fit into the upper buckets. I still have them so if I don't like the 220lbs ones I can still modify the upper buckets and try them.

Yes, a little taller than I really wanted. Any taller and I won't be able to get it out of the garage anymore.

How tall is that garage door?

Neither my old CJ7 w/a total of 6.5" lift and 33's, or my '04 D2 w/2" OME and 265/75's could safely enter my garage. I never tried w/the '04, but the CJ went in if I let most all air pressure out of the tires. My current garage door is 86" to bottom of track. I did re-frame the opening for a 8-9' door, if I ever decided, when I resided the garage.

I think a little over 7'. Did you have a roof rack on your DII? My '04 with 3" lift and 255/85's drove in with plenty of room. Except for the CB antenna that would always hit.

No roof rack. It's too chilly to open the big door for an accurate measure, but I'm sure your truck would not fit under my door. That was a big concern when I went to the Rocker chassis. Although there is a slight incline just as you enter my garage.

why don't you just go ahead and buy a toyota like the smart guy I know you are? :)

I'll reach out to you soon, Buddy.

Because, there aren't any toyota's I like. The last decent looking Toyota at least in the USwas the fj40.
