6.5" speaker mounts D1

psuedo restoration going on with my 95 Disco. It needed new speakers anyway and I ditched the rear door woofers for extra space so I'm doing this to extend the range of the remaining speakers. going to 5 1/4" is too easy and not enough of a chainge IMO, so I went this route

The centerline needs to be shifted 5/16 over to fit the trim piece.
flattened out the stock bracket, recreated it in cad.
made brackets to use existing mounting holes and hold the 6.5" driver.

Great idea. Those speakers that came in the trucks are pretty shitty. Half of them don’t work anymore and the owner doesn’t know it. Most of those subwoofers are completely rotted behind that plastic grill.

If you need the extra space this is a fine idea. If you don't need the space I suggest keeping the sub woofer enclosure, adding a decent amp, upgrading the drivers, and replacing the 4" drivers on the D pilar with something decent.

FWIW I use an MTX 250 W mono amp (in the pocket next to the enclosure), Goldwood GW-6028 subs, and Pyle PL42s. It sounds very good.

Anyone do kick panel speakers up front?
I'm looking for some mid range sound that the front is lacking. I do like his idea in the rear.

Currently have 6.5 in kickpanels. Previously had 5.25 in door below the 4. I still plan on color matching them.
