91 RRClassic intermittent stall-TPS issue?

RRC with stock 3.9 on acceleration have had the engine just cut right out. This happened twice about a week apart. Not sure if it is really stalling as it picks right back up again after a split second without use of the key. More like a BIG hiccup. Then it throws a code 19 indicating MAF or TPS. Test of those per the manual and all looks okay except for the TPS which has a "dead spot" about the same place in the pedal travel as this occasional problem. The voltage swings up until the pedal hits this spot and then it drops to zero and begins climbing again. I figure this is the problem but thought I would share and see if anyone has any related experience or wisdom to share before I shell out the $$$ for a new TPS- or the $ for a good used one.

Thanks
Ren

I had a similar problem that only occured when the throttle was almost wide open (like when passing) it would scare the crap out of me. Replaced the TPS and no more issues.

I had the same problem on my 89 RRC. I hooked up the volt meter and drove it and watched it. My problem was occuring right around 65-70 mph which is a common error as it 'sits' there quite a bit if you drive a lot of interstate like I do. It was easy to see on the voltmeter while driving. changed the TPS and all was good. Gordo

That is funny. I am having the same thing happening on my 92. While passing on the highway or going up a big hill, it just cuts out (just long enough to say what the fu#@) than it goes back to being happy. However, it fells as the ign is cutting out, why/how would the TPS cause this?

Are you getting a check engine light when this happens? I figure the lack of signal from the TPS would be enough to cause a misfire or the like. Certainly could be casued by other items as well but have you checked the TPS or looked for a code? I only looked @ the TPS because that was the code it threw.

No Check engine light and no codes. When it's warmer outside I'll test the TPS and check for any flat spots with a meter. I need to read up on what a TPS doses and see why It would cut the power to the engine.
