Hi,

My 92 RR has a peculiar problem. At times when I have the key out all doors remain unlocked, but the front passenger door will get locked, or at time the driver door does not open, but all other doors are fine and I need to open it from the inside by gaining access from another door. Also, the tailgate door remains open when centrally locking the vehicle which locks all four doors, this function is working from the driver or passenger door locking mechanism. My plan is to open up the door panel and investigate over the weekend. Been doing some searches on the web and looks the door actuator might be the culprit. Would appreciate RR Classic experts to chime in if they are familiar with this issue as it will definitely help me troubleshoot and get this issue sorted. Also, has anyone had any joy with generic replacement actuators? I just found this link: (http://www.jpurnell.com/rr/repairs/Electric Lock Actuators.htm) if the actuators are the part causing the issue I will look into placing the order to get the generic replacement actuators from parts express.

Thanks in advance for your input.

broken spring in door latch aka lazy lock or you just need to adjust the linkage to the outer door handle. hatch problem could be broken tabs on lock mechanism or bad actuator.

I've replaced the front door actuators and the tailgate with generic ones. They have different hole locations, so drilling is required. I installed the two wire models, so I did lose the central locking from the front doors, but it works fine via alarm remote. I also have a button to install in the center console to lock.unlock all doors. I've been meaning to do it for three years :D

I had a similar problem with my 92, it was the window lift channel separating from rusting away and catching the window locking linkage as I was raising or lowering the front windows, both fronts were doing it.

...it was the window lift channel separating from rusting away and catching the window locking linkage as I was raising or lowering the front windows...

Did this condition also have a click or clunk when the window was raised form the lowered position?

If so, I think I have the same condition...

Yes, sometimes multiple clicking as the door lock actuators were spazzing out. Easy enough to identify, just remove the door panel and check the condition of the lift channel, mine were so rusted they were almost flat, when new they are shaped like a U.
