whats with the pricing on these things? why will two trucks with equal miles and great condition be either $4500 or $11000?? i'm considering getting one as i've recently fallen in love with them but am wondering whats the deal? i think $11k for one is way off

Where is the one with a price of 11K?

i see it all the time. probably 30% of them are closer to $10k than $4k. bear valley wants $14k for one i think. i wouldnt pay more than $5k for any rover that old besides a defender.

It is crazy being at price,... well, properly when adding up all the repair bills for the passed 10 years, they believe that should be the price the buyer should pay for. Or maybe they think there is a market for simple design( mechanical) 4 x4.

I've seen them for $500 and I've seen them for $15k, and both have sold. There is a market out there for anyone. The higher priced ones are generally bought by previous owners who have liked them a lot and want to replace an aged one with a pristine one that doesn't need work. The $500's all need a bit of work.

You're really paying a premium for the unmolested nature of those LWBs on BVLR's site and their "low" miles. Notice it still has the EAS- someone must have really dropped some money in that truck. Copley had a '95 RRC SWB a few years ago that was in immaculate condition and they wanted $20k for it. It actually sold pretty quickly considering the price.

I love the LWBs and would really like to make one a base for an expedition truck. Something like this would be a great base for that if you had the $$$, but not the time to bring one up to par.

this is my plan for a So.Cal. '94 LWB that I have.

after having a 110 that we used on a few long trips in Brasil, even a LWB can't quite equal it for hauling stuff.

for the 2 of us and the 2, 4-paw drive Rovers, it will work and the ride is certainly nicer.

finding a rust free Rangie is also getting more and more difficult - you can fix the mechanicals pretty easily, yet, repairing the RR body/steel sub-frame isn't.

That's a purty truck Garrett. I haven't seen a Disco that clean in quite awhile. Has anyone on here ever tried putting in long-range/dual fuel tanks on a LWB? I'm sure it can be done, big buckets of cash can get most anything done, but just wondered if anyone had any experience doing something like that.

I agree that the pricing is based on the vehicle and what the market/buyer will bear... I paid $4k for my 1-owner LWB w/139k last September. It's 100% original including EAS. There's practically no body rust except for some spots by the license plate lights on the tailgate and a bit of discoloration on the firewall at the usual seam. There's no floorpan, etc rust anywhere. I'm amazed at some of the prices I am seeing for trucks with most rust/etc than mine...If I ever wanted to sell it, maybe some of that gold would rub off on me!

one of my old friend's parents bought him a 95 SWB for 15k from BVLR back in 2005. it had something like 108K miles on it, but man that thing was sweet.

My experience with the really really nice ones is that you have to be THERE WITH CASH when the ad posts where ever it is. Unless they're at Bear Valley. Then you just watch the price drop little by little until it becomes reasonable several months later.

Yeah, we paid $5k for our '95 LWB two and a half years ago, and I'll probably be selling it for $3-4k after the '01 arrives. But I've seen them all over the place for pricing, too, and it really doesn't seem as dependant on condition as I would have thought.
