I just purchased a 96 5 speed (105K, paid 6k super clean) after months of searching... It looks as though it was well maintained, the owners manual has all the stamps to prove it.
Anyway, stoked I found the forum, and now comes the brain picking. I want to over the next year transform this stock disco into an expedition vehicle... Not a 4-wheelin' crawler, rather something I can take into the southwestern deserts and get lost wit for weeks at a time.
I'd like to go with a more D90 type of height and am thinking an OME springs and shock kit and tires to match (Expedition Exchange will be doing the work). My concern is with the ****** and the extra torque it will be dealing with the larger wheels... I'm no engineer so I'm not even sure if it would make a difference, or maybe my concern should be elsewhere...
Any comments thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated...
