My front leather(ette) seat bottoms are past shot in the '96 D1. I picked up some clean replacements and was wondering if anyone here had tips and tricks for swapping the foam and seat cover.

It looks like just a straight unclipping but I don't want to frig up these nice replacements.

Get a good set of hog ring pliers and a handfull of new hog rings . I would call around to a few trim shops too . You may be surprised how reasonable some trim work gets done for .

On my 1996 there were no hog rings. The leather was held on with a plastic channel. And the foam was held in place by the leather.

FYI...right and left are interchangeable.

I know it has the plastic tabs around the edges but I'm pretty sure they have hog rings in the center area . It's been a while but you have to remove the leather cover to replace the heater element .

I completed the swap for both front seats today. It is pretty easy. I pulled both seats from the truck, inverted them, and unclipped the long clip at the rear first. Then I worked my way around, unclipping very carefully as I went. Installation is the reverse.

Just be careful not to break the plastic retainers.
