I expect to get flamed again for this one...
I discovered yesterday a leak where the rear shaft meets the pinion. I've searched the Rave CD and it made mention of the possibility of the axle vent system could be clogged causing pressure to build up and press lube past the seal. I've also searched here and have found a few people that have had this problem, and fixed it, but with no further explaination from either source.
a. If it is a problem with the vent pipes being clogged, I'd assume it to be an easy fix, but where are they...... Is this most likely the issue?
b. If it is a problem of a bad seal, from the looks of the info on RAVE, it should be able to be fixed without having to pull the diff housing, correct? (that is, once the 'correct LR specific' tools are purchased). My concern here is having to drop the axle. I'm a bit mechanical, but my 'shop' isn't equipped for that task...
Thanks,
Rovin
