Out of curiosity, why did you paint the steel trim on the rear of the truck? I have noticed this being done on many restored Series, and I don't understand why as it doesn't look as "original' to me.

Steel Trim

Well I guess it was my preference. I acid etched metal so I could paint and match color. I actually looked in an old manual I purchased somwhere and it showed the metal being painted or maybe i need better glasses. HuH???

It appears to be a good-looking truck, really straight. Would think that prospective buyers would like to see chassis pics (in the areas that usually rust, like the rear cross-member, frame outriggers, front horns), engine pics, interior pics, etc.

On a series truck the steel trim should be galvanized (as it is still on the inside). On Defenders, Rover quit galvanizing and started just painting, then after a few years all the rust started showing up.... so now, the Defenders's still bits are galvanized, but still painted over.

FWIW.....

Thanks for the info. I figured the rust issue was why LR has now gone to painting the Denders' galvanized bits. I do prefer the look of the bare steel on the Series though, just seems to match the overall rig.

Looks nice from the photos, for a nice finish the trim needs to be galvanized not painted. Anyone buying this would probably want it to look as close to original as possible.
