Hi,
I was hoping that you would be able to help me with advice on what could possibly be wrong.
My vehicle had issues of requiring a top up of oil every 2 weeks. There was a leak from the Valve cover gasket which was visible on the gasket, and leaked onto the manifold and was burned off (never any drips on the ground).
I had my engine taken in an had that repaired. I also had new Catylytic converters put on, and cylinder head work done.
When I received my rover after being in the shop for three weeks the starter motor decides to die only after me having it a week I then had that replaced with a new starter, and an oil change.
3 weeks later my engine oil light came on and stayed on. I pulled over and checked the fluid level on a flat roadway, and there was no oil on the dipstick. I had to pour in 3.5 litres of oil to get the oil level to the minimum level line on the dipstick.
My vehicle went back to the shop and it was found out that the PVC valve was not working and oil was passing through that. That was fixed as well as a fresh oil change.
Two weeks into having my rover back I see that the engine is still eating through oil. I have had to add 3 litres to top it up.
What could be wrong here? Thoughts, suggestions, and comments are appreciated. I am worried that the new cats are going to have a shortened life span if this continues.
There is no blue smoke in the exhaust, no oil burning odour, and no drips on the ground... is this blow through?
