A quick update after months of trying... I took the alternator into a rebuild shop, initially it tested with 14.1v output, I had him replace the output regulator, reinstalled the alt on Friday and my lights no longer flicker. Drove all weekend with no issues (electrically). Stoked!

Still fixed? My '96 is doing the same thing and its driving me nuts. What was the cost to replace the output regulator?

Just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for getting to the root of this problem! My headlights and dash lights have been pulsing for a couple of years - and I finally decided to do something about it - found this thread, ordered a new voltage regulator off of Ebay, installed it (really easy) and I am now good to go. No more pulsing! Also fixed the erratic tach needle that was bouncing all over the place. I almost feel like I'm not going to break down in the next 5 minutes...

Last time I recommended these guys I got barked at about it being more convenient to just replace it lol. I have one of these kits sitting in my truck for a rainy day. I'm happy with the kit too though I haven't used it yet.
If you know how to use these parts, it is sooo worth keeping them in the truck instead of a spare alternator and starter.

Just ordered this from Maniac per your suggestion. So many cheap regs on ebay, I started looking for copper looking brushes and came across this advert and said SOLD.

Tore it all apart and found the regulators don't match. After digging more looks like I bought this Alternator NEW online a long time ago but only 5k miles ago.. Someone bamboozled me with a 100amp alternator, and Brushes already look toast.. GRRR

But on the PLUS SIDE, I found loose nuts on all the 'wires' for regulator.. Tightened them up and slapped it on.. NO MORE PULSING LIGHTS..

Sweet thanks everyone! Loose nuts on a new alternator, wouldn't have it any other way.. SMH..

BTW new reg in hand is is 120, alt reg is 100 .. At least thats what I gather.. MY finger is locating a missing contact
