97 Disco power loss while driving

 I have an intermittent problem with my 97 Disco. After about 20 minutes of driving, at any speed, the engine feels like it cuts out for a few seconds. For example I could be driving alone at 3500RPM and the truck would feel like it just lost power and RPMs would drop to 2800. After a few seconds it would jump back up again. This goes on for a while every 15 seconds or so. Then it might quit for a day or week but always comes back. Any Ideas? I have replaced the fuel pump, filters, plugs and wires,

I had the same problem with my 97 and it turned out to be the MAF. A shop in Salt Lake let me try the part before I purchased it. It seemed to resolve the problem :)

VSS first, as it is easy and cheap. TPS second. MAF 3rd. If you know someone else who has a Disco, switch the MAF with theirs for a week and see if it helps.

Thanks all! I have already tried the TPS, but not the VSS or the MAF. Can anyone tell me where the VSS is located on the 97 Disco? One more thing, could the 02 sensors be at fault in anyway?

I had/have the same problem with my 98 D1 and by the way it was acting I figured it was the throttle sensor. I nailed it with silicone spray, soaking the whole device and then ran it. No problem since. I will be travelling 200 miles tomorrow and will see if this 'cured' the problem.
