97 Disco Radio Removal Pics

Maybe these pictures will help someone trying to remove a 97 Disco radio. The first pic shows one of two 5 sided screws you must loosen. I drilled out the hole a little so you can see what it looks like. I used a small screwdriver and pressed in on the radio housing while turning the screw counterclockwise. There is one on each side of the front. If you look at the other pictures you can see how the screw(s) extends a fork back of the bezel which grabs the side of the mounting hole. Turning the screw counterclockwise moves the fork back inside the radio for removal. It is sometimes tough to get them to release. Pushing on the front bezel while turning the screw can help - also lots of patient wiggling of the radio...

It takes a small allen wrench to remove the set screws. I forget the exact size. Just fumbled around with my metric allen wrenches and found one that fit.

Um, they are 5 sided and your allen wrenches have six sides...you can fit one in but they will chew the screw.

i use a 2mm allen all the time with no problems.
