My ABS light is always on as well. I take out the fuse when off road but keep it in when on pavement.

It eventually throws a CEL. One of the ABS fuses under the dash also powers the diagnostic port for OBD. So you will throw a code and then be confused why you can't check what it is.
So I leave it in.

I also thought I read somewhere that if you are in a bad accident and they find out you took out the ABS fuse/altered the ABS system, you are screwed whether the ABS had anything to do with the accident or not.

I had the same problem over a year ago. I tried the paper clip blink test about ten times and never got it to work. I confirmed that the ABS still worked by slamming on the brakes on a gravel road and then pulled the light. I never even give it a second thought now.

I heard that the abs system on the D1 was aweful. When I got my D1 I thought I'd be replacing something abs related every 6 months based on the horror stories. However, I only had to have it fixed when I got the truck. I haven't had a problem with it for three years now. I like it despite the many varied opinions on Dweb.

I would recommend turning the abs off when off-roading as pm suggested.

What or where are the fuses? I found two under the hood. do you pull both of them? the large and the small normal style?

or should I pull the bulb out. my abs works but the light is still on.. bad rear bearing is the start.
Would extra grease on the corrogated ring cause me the problems?
