I have a 98 discovery . I was installing a new stereo system in it today and when I lifted the carpet to run the wires I found a soaked floor on both side of the truck.(front only) I have since then removed the seats , carpet etc. Now how do I find/fix the problem? Any info would be greatly appreciated !!

Our 98 was kind enough to leak directly through the sunroof along with the ac drains on the front carpets. :D

Since it's on both sides it's probably the AC drains. There are two of them, one on each side. Here is a pic of the location. Ignore the extended drain hose - that's a horrible idea. But this is the best pic I could find that shows the location of the drains. Just reach up and give the drains a pinch, or rip off the entire plastic nipple.

I just rip off the entire nipple. Damn things will rec-log in a week on their own.

So I no were both of my leaks are! on the driver side it leaks down from the area were the hood latch release is ? And the other side in the same area? still can see where its getting in? it seams to be up high in the dash. I even removed the front fenders! going to fill the one hole but not sure about the other side? could it be the windshield? hood mounts? just seam to come straight down.:banghead:

In those areas it could be the windshield or a body seem in the cowel . I had a weird leak at the lower windshield that would only come in if the truck was driving . The base of the windshield is a high pressure area when the truck is moving .

You could close up all the windows and turn the blower on high speed ( not on recirc ) . That will pressurize the interior and if you listen with a stethoscope in those areas you may hear the air leaking out where the water is leaking in .

Found my problem! The water that collects at the bottom of the windshield spills out thru 4 holes on the left and right side of the truck. 2 spill out behind the fenders and the other 2 into the engine compartment behind the wheel wells. Stupid design ! not only do they rust out the backside of the wheel wells but they spill onto wires that go into the truck! I was getting leaks around these areas. So I bondoed up the holes that spilled into the engine area
so now water only spills out behind the fenders. I would recommend this and save yourself the headache of rusted floor full of water! Take the time and check under the carpet and sound deadner. I have taken and beblined the entire floor of the truck before replacing all the interior.

What did the aprons look like when you got the fenders off ? I'm always amazed how shitty those can get on a truck that still looks clean on the outside ? Got any pics of them ? I ask cause I always wonder how far south and west I need to go to find a solid truck .
