'99 D1 Electrical Questions

Trying some simple additions to my '99 D1: 7-wire trailer connector w/ electric brakes; fog lights; driving lights.

1) No factory fogs, found the plug / ordered the switch. Found the wires behind the headlamps. I'm told I need to add a relay too? There is only one relay socket in the main (under steering column) fusebox and it has a (black) relay in it. Is there somewhere else to add this relay and a fuse and use the factory wiring or am I ready to rock?

2) Driving Lights: I ordered the switch and fond wiring for the "Aux. Lights" switch next to the fog and cruise control switches. What does this switch do once I plug it into the wiring? Where do I find the other end of this wiring and do I need to add a fuseholder and relay for it? Like to use it for my new driving lights.

3) The trailer wiring harness in the right-rear of the vehicle is 7-wire, plus two more wires factory taped to this connector. Does anyone know where these wires go? I can figure out the simple ones like turn-signal, brake, and tail-lamp, but what are the others? I need a wire from there to the dash to add a brake controller wire and hope there is one already in that cluster. Also need 12v for trailer interior lights.

Any info on these will be much appreciated.

LR lights aren't THAT easy - the BECM controls almost all of them, so in addition to adding hardware, you also have to reprogram the SOFTWARE to make them work.

TRANSLATION: Take it to the dealer. :(

Adding Fogs

Hard to believe that the factory fog lights on a D1 are controlled by a computer as AB told me just to add the switch and relay to make the factory wiring hot, ... dealer in the next town and they don't know squat about the D1 so I'll pull new wires and abandon the factory fog wiring I guess.

Surprised nobody here has ever added auxiliary lights to a D1 using the factory fog-light wiring.
