I have a 1999 Discovery I with 97,000 miles. Thursday I drove home from work about 15 minutes later went to go leave and my truck would not start, it would turn over but does not start. It seemed like the engine was not getting fuel. After spraying some staring fluid in the intake it would run for a few seconds then die. I searched the forum and found a great posting (http://www.discoweb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14451 ) on replacing the fuel pump.
Friday I tested the voltage at the pump and it was OK. I do not have a pressure gauge so I could not check the pressure at the fuel rail. This morning I went through the process of replacing the fuel pump outlined in the above mentioned thread. Put it all back together, but it still will not start. Took everything back out double checked all the connections, and they all looked fine. Once again it still would not start. I tried the starting fluid again to see if it would help prime get fuel going in the lines; as soon as the starting fluid is gone the truck dies. When the key is turned I do not hear the fuel pump make any nose.
Does anyone have recommendations on what to check/ test next?
