A/C Expansion Valve and one other question

Hi all,

I have finished tearing apart my old dashboard to replace my A/C expansion valve. Breaking it down was much easier than I anticipated.

I have two questions:

1) Do I need to shell-out the $180 for a genuine expansion valve from a place like Atlantic British, or do you guys have a cheaper alternative?

2) Is there anything else premptive I should be taking care of while I have the dash removed?

rockauto shows one for like $24 (or $14 if you plug in 1997 instead... not sure what's different, the one at Atlantic British shows 1994-1999).
