I would like to see tha breakdown of the brass disc in the stock again. I have read it a few times but i still cant remember the specs or how to read them. Do you have the answer or a quick link? I know it involves the caliber size and bore condition and the shop where produced but i cant recall the specifics.

Those JC Higgins are a steal, a commercial FN action in overalls.

My favorite rifle is a 35 Whelen built on a FN Supreme action.

I've got a 8mm that bruised my shoulder when I shot it, Also have a 308 that was some kind of conversion, I read something about the head space not being good and may blow up, the saftey acts funny, I've had it for a few years and only shot it a few times, never have had the headspace checked, its a nice little rifle, I just need to make sure its safe.

i hate ponies there was a very good swede sight that explained the stock disk marking & the ammo chart but its down right now.

master camper the 308 conversion you have my be one of the ones that is chambered for 7.62 nato instead of .308 commercial ammo, a bunch of them were released about a year ago. the only difference is the headspace is set long to compensate for differnt lots & countries ammo. if you handload i would fireform some .308 cases to your chamber then neck size them instead of full length sizing them. when it gets hard to open the bolt its time for a full lenth resize or toss the brass & start over.
7.62 nato surpluss ammo is getting harder to find
